Join us for the 8th Annual Beer & Chili Festival on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Roosevelt Park. Sacramento Beer and Chili Festival features a chili cook off competition (industry, individual, vegetarian, People's Choice) and beer tastings provided by local breweries.
Bike parking will be available on the fence and dogs are welcome. Children are allowed at the event but must be accompanied but an adult at all times.
This year, a portion of the proceeds from our event will go to the Sacramento Preparatory Music Academy. Their mission is to support and advance access to lifelong learning opportunities in music arts education.

Join us for the 7th Annual Chili Cook-off & Beer Tasting Fundraiser on Saturday, April 20, 2019. Sacramento Beer and Chili Festival will feature a chili cook-off competition and beer tastings provide by local breweries. A perfect day at the park with friends and family!
Please read the below rules and regulations carefully. Signing this form indicates that you have read and agree to the Rules & Requirements.
All teams will provide at least 5 gallons of chili. Sacramento Beer and Chili Festival will provide serving bowls, spoons, napkins, and a People’s Choice voting box to each team. Each team will also be provided with a tent and one table; each team is responsible for any additional tables they may need (for prep, etc.) Chili must be cooked on site. Propane, coal, and wood chips are all allowed.
Fire and Health Department Requirements
Contestants will provide their own barbecue or propane stove, fire extinguisher, a gallon of bottled water, drip pan and a sanitation area (plastic tub, water, and sanitary cleaner). Note- Most BBQs have drip pans. If you do not have a drip pan, cardboard or absorbent tarp will also work. Grease stains on the sidewalk or grass will result in the deposit being fortified. If using propane, contestants will chain their tank upright to their BBQ or table. If using barrels to BBQ, contestants must bring cinder blocks or bricks to raise the barrel off the ground. Industry contestants must sign the mandatory Health Department Craven Act form that documents that 100% of your chili is a donation to the Sacramento Beer and Chili Festival. We will provide this form at check-in. Contestants can bring small outdoor signage or A-Frame for advertising. You may also distribute your business menus. If you do not have signage, we will have poster board and sharpies to create your own.
Important Event Info
Mandatory Contestant Meeting at 8:00 a.m. Contestants will be provided with ONE table. Check-in starts at 7 a.m., ready for tastings at noon. and break-down starts at 5 pm, vehicles may enter after 5:30 p.m. We strongly recommend that you arrive at 7 a.m. to give you enough time to prep. All vehicles, debris, and signage must vacate park no later than 6:30 p.m. We will be obtaining permits from City of Sacramento & ABC A copy of 501(c)3 letter with your tax donation will be distributed at the meeting at 8:00 a.m.
Chili will be judged by a panel of 3-5 judges- Chili will be assigned a number (1 to 5 with 5 being the best and 1 being the worst) in the following categories- Flavor, Aesthetic and Aroma. We will be crowning four winners- One Industry, One Individual, One Vegetarian (open to industry and individual) and One People’s Choice.
Required Deposit: $100.00
$100.00 deposit will be returned to teams the day of the event. If the team does not show up, the deposit will not be returned and will be considered a donation to Sacramento Beer and Chili Festival.

Individual Category includes two 5 oz. beer tasting mugs. Industry Category includes four 5 oz beer tasting mugs. And additional four Full Access tickets can be purchased by teams for friends/family at the discounted price of $25.00 (regular price is $45.00).
